End of a Year

This year has been hard on all of us.  We, as many of you, have been isolated in our homes except for trips to the store for groceries or other essential items.  Yet, many of us have branched out to a wider circle of connections through online media platforms.  Vaccines are here with a waiting period depending on one's need in public service.  We will still have to wear masks until all is deemed safe.  There are many predictions of when that might be.  The less anxious we are, the sooner it will be for all of us physically and psychologically.

Meantime, I am navigating my way through the online world of selling art.  It was so much easier and straightforward having my own gallery and control.  That has been awhile.  Aside from a few shows here and there since 2013, I have stepped back from the public scene for my art.  Now, with the inability to step out with my art as readily as we could before COVID-19, it is more imperative to me to bring my art to you in this manner.  Whether or not you are interested in buying, I enjoy being able to share a bit of myself.

Here's hoping for a new year full of light!  Take care and be safe.

Business

12/12/2020 12:29:59 PM

Like many artists, business is not my forte but a necessary component of staying in the practice without getting inundated with the product.  Here I am at the end of the year finishing up a series that I plan to launch in the new year.  Challenges include getting the word out online, necessary in these COVID days and a huge learning curve for me.

Before I can do that, however, I will need to get the paintings professionally photographed in order to bring you a quality reproduction here.  My "Casa de la Luz" and my studio lack a proper non-glare site to do the photography myself with my husband's help as we have done in the past before moving here.  We already tried doing a shoot outside when the light was well diffused, but we still found uneven light no matter where we set it up.  Luckily, I have a local person with reasonable prices to help me.

Stay tuned, I will be bringing these new works to this site as soon as possible.  I am excited about sharing my view of scenes from my daily walks in the Land of Enchantment.  At least I feel blessed to be here where I can roam freely without concern for the virus.  Stay healthy and safe!

Setting the Stage

Where the Water Runs

Here we are in the final month of the year.  I am on target for my goal which is to finish the six 3'x4' oil paintings on canvas.  Each one takes me about three weeks to do working each day from one and a half to three hours.  This series is of my walks up and down the drive from the bottom of our hill to the top where my house sits.

The vistas spread out over the land that I love.  It is the essence of my being.  The land where I was born and raised.  Over the many years that I lived on the coast and relished our walks along the shore in California, it was this high altitude desert that was missing in my soul.  Luckily, I have had the opportunity to dwell in beautiful areas offering much different sceneries.

Fortunate also is the experience of traveling this country mostly by car.  This North American Continent has so much to offer everywhere.  We each have our special places.  It is fun to see vicariously what others cherish through expressions in photographs and art.  Thank you for joining my journey.
